ANNOUNCEMENT ~  THE WINNERS OF THE ‘ALL THAT JAZZ’ CONTEST!

Wow!  What fantastic entries we have received over the last three weeks for the ‘All that Jazz’ contest!

We would like to thank all the musicians and judges that participated enthusiastically and helped in making this event successful.

We are delighted to announce that our contest was officially listed by UNESCO on their website http://jazzday.com/events/ and was the only ‘registered’ event held in celebration of ‘International Jazz Day’ from Pakistan!

Now coming back to the much awaited results of the event; the entries have been judged for technicality, musicality, originality, the ability to transcend and the overall energy of the musicians.

Our judges had a tough time with these entries as each and every submission was good in its own way and hence it was a matter of a few points that set the winners apart.

The Winners of the ‘All That Jazz’ Contest

Jon Saville

1st Place awarded to JON SAVILLE

He has been christened as the ‘Pakistani’ ‘Thelonious Monk’ by one of our judges.

Both entries submitted by Jon received the highest views.

Entry 1 ~ Letter from Home – Lyle Mays and Pat Metheny with 251 views

(WINNING TRACK)

Entry 2 ~ When God Created the Coffee Break with 280 views (considering it was the last entry to go in)

2nd Place awarded to band ‘ORANGENOISE’ for their original entry ‘A Night at Burns Road’

Orangenoise

The judges were really impressed with the original entries from this band.

Entry 1 ~ A Night At Burns Road ~ Live at PACC with 218 views (WINNING TRACK)

Entry 2 ~ A Drive Into the Sun with 117 views

3rd Place awarded to ‘The Ever Green Jazz Band’ for entry ‘Carnival’

CopyJazz3rdPlace

What fantastic entries from this amazing Jazz band with such skillful and talented musicians!

They were a strong contender for 2nd place and it was just a matter of a few points that put them behind Orangenoise.

Orangenoise had submitted original entries and therefore the Ever Green Jazz Band fell behind in that category.

Entry 1 ~ Carnival with 202 views (WINNING TRACK)

Entry 2 ~ Blue Moon with 191 views

Entry 3 ~ In the Mood with 176 views

A veteran musician from the Parsi, Zoroastrian Community Mr. Spittaman Petigara shared this clip on our LMK page today and we had to share it here.

Here is what he has to say;

This is my contribution in celebration of  International Jazz day…  A song by the Maestro Stevie wonder, A bit complex but a beautiful arrangement and classic melody.
Esperanza’s Jazz version is simply outstanding.  Let me just tell you, I was so inspired by this song that I tried playing it on my keyboard and believe me it took me a while to do so.
Mr Stevie Wonder and Esperanza…
